Finding the Right Acne Treatment for Your Skin

What is a Black Head?

The most common complaints for people who have acne are black heads and white heads. Both of these are unsightly and can make people uncomfortable with their appearance. Blackheads are collections of dirt and oil that get packed down into pores. They make black ’spots’ on the face, neck, and others areas, and they can be quite pronounced. A lot of people get them and they will sometimes go away on their own. Other times they won’t, and they can be very stubborn when you’re trying to get rid of them. With that being the case, prevention is a good idea, and treating them quickly when they do appear is also a good choice. The best way to prevent them is to keep your skin very clean. If you don’t have a bunch of dirt and oil on your skin you won’t have to worry about it getting stuck down in your pores and causing a problem.

Wash your face (where most black heads occur) once a day, at least. You might want to wash it twice a day if you’re very prone to black heads, acne, and skin problems. If your skin is oily, washing it twice a day is important because you’ll be able to keep it much cleaner that way. If it’s very oily, you can also use blotting paper during the day to keep the oil content of your skin down. This is especially good in humid climates where it’s difficult not to sweat and also good for women who wear makeup, because the blotting papers will take oil off of the skin without ruining the look of the makeup.

There are pore strips that can be bought in the stores, too, and they are designed to remove black heads before they really get started, so that you don’t end up with problematic skin from them. That’s important, because they are treating the problem before it really has a chance to get a good start, and that can ensure that your skin stays looking and feeling great. It’s usually easier to prevent something than it is to take care of fixing it once it’s already happened, so keep that in mind when dealing with black heads.

If you already have some, though, and just can’t seem to get rid of them you can try cleansers that open up pores, and there are also various devices that can help to remove black heads. If all else fails, ask a pharmacist or a dermatologist what he or she would recommend to take care of your black head problem.
